Bachata is a style of dance that originated in the Dominican Republic. It is danced widely all over the world but not identically. Before it came to be used to refer to a genre of music it meant a "fiesta del patio" or an informal gathering of friends and neighbors where music was played and drinks were often served.
Are you ready to embark on a dance journey filled with energy, connection, and pure joy? Our instructors will walk you through an introductory class that has been designed for first-time dancers. It does not require a partner or any dance experience, and most important is about fun!
Here are the key concepts you will learn in this class:
- Basic Steps: Understanding the foundational footwork.
- Timing and Rhythm: Learning how to count the beats and staying on the correct timing.
- Partner Connection: Developing the ability to connect with a dance partner, including hand positioning, frame, and leading or following techniques.
- Core moves: Learning the foundational moves of bachata. These are the moves that will set you up for social dancing, and our intermediate classes.
